over 49.1%  of the US population is fully vaccinated.

Drug stores and pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target, and more have supported the vaccination effort by providing doses for free to communities around the country.

To find a vaccine site, one can use the CDC’s Vaccine Finder Tool, allowing people to filter by vaccine manufacturer and distance.

At CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid, those interested can easily book appointments online:

Do vaccines protect people against covid-19?

Yes.

Getting a covid-19 vaccine is an easiest and most effective way to prevent severe infection from the virus.

Various state governments, including the South Caroline Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), have released a study showing just how unvaccinated people face a disproportionate risk to the virus.

In June, the state reported 5,344 covid-19 cases, of which 93% were unvaccinated. Additionally, 86% of those hospitalized and 90% of those who died had also not received their shots.

In response to these figures, the DHEC Director, Dr. Brannon Traxler, said, “This data is further proof that vaccinations save lives.” Dr. Traxler also mentioned urged the unvaccinated to get an appointment saying, “We can’t stress this enough: eligible residents should protect themselves and their loved ones by getting fully vaccinated.”

Earlier this month, similar data from Maryland showed that all covid-related deaths in the state in June were attributed to people who had not been vaccinated.

The CDC has recorded 879 deaths in vaccinated people at the national level, known as breakthrough cases. While tragic, these deaths represent a small fraction of the more than 600,000 Americans who have lost their lives to covid-19.
